People for Purpose

With the support of Social Ventures Australia, People for Purpose was established in 2012 by two SVA alumnae Melissa Macpherson and Rachael McLennan, to support the placement of talented and passionate people into leadership and management positions in the ‘for purpose’ sector.

Their mission is to enhance the capability of non-profit organisations by increasing the flow of informed executives into the for purpose sector and by providing the often-overlooked ingredients required for these employment partnerships to thrive.

‘The complex problems that non-profit organisations are seeking to tackle require valuable expertise, energy and influence if they are going to devise and implement innovative and sustainable solutions. The irony is that there are scores of people with these capabilities on offer but there aren’t the mechanisms in place to educate them on the sector, connect them into the right kinds of opportunities and support them through the initial cultural and strategic shift. This is where People for Purpose can help,’ says Michael Traill.
