Consultant Social Ventures Australia (SVA) is a non-profit organisation investing in social change, by helping increase the impact and build the sustainability of organisations in the social sector. We provide funding and strategic support to carefully selected non-profit partners, as well as offering consulting services to the social sector more broadly. The consulting division works with a range of non-profit organisations and social enterprises on customised, results-driven solutions which improve organisational performance and social impact. The consulting team also supports funders, including foundations, philanthropists and governments, to make informed decisions about their social investments. Assignments can range from strategy development to operational enhancement to evaluation and measurement to demonstration of impact, including application of the internationally recognised tool, Social Return on Investment (SROI). We believe that results are driven by four levers: a clear purpose; identification and design of the most effective strategy to pursue that purpose; access to smart money to fund the strategy; and efficient and effective allocation and use of resources available (including boards). We exist to strengthen these levers, enabling the non-profit sector to deliver sustainable social improvement to disadvantaged Australians. Position We are looking for dynamic, confident self-starters, with exceptional analytical and communication skills, who would like to join a rapidly growing, exciting and diverse team, who are passionate about Australia’s social sector. Location We are currently recruiting for individuals to join both our Sydney and Melbourne based teams. Responsibilities Each Consultant’s responsibilities vary from case to case depending on the needs of the client.
Typical responsibilities include:
Scoping client projects.
Conducting qualitative research and analysis through interviews with non-profit client staff, client beneficiaries and experts in the field.
Conducting quantitative research and analysis of the non-profit sector.
Working with management and boards of client organisations.
Conducting financial analysis, including financial projections.
Preparing clear and compelling presentation materials.
Facilitating and presenting analysis and findings.
Capturing and sharing knowledge both internally and externally. Qualifications To be successful in this role you must have at least two years experience working with a top-tier strategic consulting firm, blended with experience in hands on operations and business development. You must be able to demonstrate experience with, an understanding of, and a commitment to, the non-profit sector. You will also need a high tolerance for ambiguity, uncertainty and complexity and will be self-driven and highly motivated. Knowledge Manager Social Ventures Australia (SVA) is a non-profit organisation investing in social change, by helping increase the impact and build the sustainability of organisations in the social sector. Increasingly SVA is seeking to influence impact in the sector by sharing the insights and knowledge generated from our consulting engagements and wider organisational activities. Position The Knowledge Manager is a new role that will report to the Director of SVA Consulting. We are looking for an experienced individual with exceptional communication and project implementation skills, who would like to join a rapidly growing, exciting and diverse team, who are passionate about Australia’s social sector. Location Ideally the role will be based in our Sydney Head Office, however for the right candidate there is some flexibility for the role to be based out of Melbourne. Responsibilities To develop our knowledge management functions, the Knowledge Manager will:
Define what types of knowledge should be captured.
Define knowledge processes and guidelines.
Define a knowledge management system.
Implement the agreed strategy.
Identifying and fostering external partners we may work with in this area
Qualifications To be successful in this role you must have five to ten years experience in knowledge management (preferable in a consulting environment), or in direct consulting with an interest in generating insights from that work. You must have demonstrated ability to design, implement and manage processes and systems or strong project management skills. Naturally you must also be able to demonstrate interest in the non-profit sector. Our eight years in the sector has reinforced our belief that lifting education and employment participation levels is the most effective foundation for achieving sustainable, broad based and breakthrough change in disadvantaged communities. As we renew our focus on these areas, we are seeking to build a highly motivated team passionate about changing the education outcomes for Australia’s disadvantaged children. Position We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to take on the challenge of this newly created role and lead the Education team, taking responsibility for the development and delivery of SVA’s education strategy. Location Ideally the role will be based in Melbourne, although for the right candidate there is flexibility for the role to be based in our Sydney office. Responsibilities
Drive the identification, development and implementation of SVA’s education initiatives
Build an alliance of national education stakeholders
Own and manage the pipeline of potential partners for SVA’s Education portfolio
Own and manage performance evaluation and support processes for partners in the Education portfolio
Ensure the development and implementation of education partners growth plans and impact program design
Facilitate alliances with third parties for collaborative projects around program design
Build domain knowledge in education and connect SVA into external learning and knowledge networks
Estimate investment required to fund initiatives and support Social Investment team in identifying investment opportunities and brokering partnerships to acquire required funds. Qualifications To be successful in this role you must have deep experience in the education sector and an understanding of innovative teaching and learning approaches. A strong network in both Australian and international education sectors is essential. You must have demonstrated ability in systems thinking, as the successful candidate will need to play a role in influencing the future of Australia’s education system. This role will require you to work will multiple stakeholders both within and outside the organisation and as such you will need to be a confident self-starter, with exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
