Selection criteria The non-profit organisations in our venture portfolio focus on one or more of the following areas: young people, Indigenous community building, ageing, employment and the environment. Click here to learn more about SVA's focus areas
There are also several key criteria we use to help us determine if we should consider a social venture for inclusion in our portfolio (a more rigorous and thorough evaluation is then applied):
| | | • Innovative model or program that addresses the root cause of the issue, not just the symptoms
• Ability to report and articulate a social return to investors, stakeholders and the wider public
• Successful track record with measurable outcomes and evidence of high quality results
| | | | • Ability and capacity to scale and replicate programs
• Sustainable funding and support base
• Willingness to invest in critical systems and infrastructure as the foundation for growth
| | | | • Passion combined with a practical ability to see a different way of doing things
• Preparedness to inspire, motivate and enlist support for the cause
• Ability to reach across established boundaries, sectors and fields of business, government and non-profit activity to form partnerships for skills and knowledge transfer
| | | | • Willingness to embrace and implement SVA's strategic and management resources
• Openness to sharing learnings between portfolio ventures, the non-profit sector, government and business
• Potential for SVA to have a real impact on the venture
