The Governor of Victoria hosts an evening for SVA supporters

On November 10 2016, SVA staff and supporters gathered for a special reception as the guests of Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AM, Governor of Victoria.

The stately rooms of Government House provided the ideal setting to thank those who commit their time, talents and resources to helping SVA improve outcomes for people in need in Victoria and beyond.

Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AM, Governor of Victoria with SVA supporters and CEO Rob Koczkar.

In her opening address, Her Excellency spoke of having seen some of the causes and many of the results of disadvantage through her years in criminal law, family law and the courts.

She acknowledged the need to enhance social equity in Australia and recognised both the steps SVA is taking to address longstanding issues and the significant role of SVA supporters in making this work possible.

‘Thank you to the community-minded individuals and organisations who have contributed generously, whether by donating their skills, much-needed funds, or support on many levels,’ she said.

Echoing her words, SVA’s CEO Rob Koczkar added,

‘SVA is deeply appreciative of the commitment and support we receive from corporations and foundations, individual philanthropists, government partners and pro bono suppliers, and we look forward to continuing to partner with you over the coming years to drive the change we seek.’

With current and former venture partners, such as AIME, Ganbina and Teach for Australia, among the attendees, the evening was also a chance for guests to reflect on past success and for new friends to hear about some of SVA’s latest projects..

Her Excellency drew particular attention to SVA’s role as the author of a new approach to driving sustainable results on a wider scale.

‘The assistance you have provided to many not-for-profit organisations has ensured that they could maximise their potential, to in turn improve the lives of many thousands of Australians,’ she said.

SVA would like to thank Her Excellency for her warm hospitality, her endorsement of our work and for helping us celebrate the vital contribution of our supporters.
