SVA sponsor impact investment summit

Social Ventures Australia (SVA) will sponsor the 2016 Impact Investment Summit to be held in Sydney from the 26-28 October. The Summit will bring world leaders in impact investing to focus on Making it Happen – Deals, deep dives, dynamics, with six international speakers  now confirmed to lead the line-up.

The Impact Investment Summit aims to mobilise the investment community to understand how to galvanise capital for social good as well as financial returns. The conference will feature sessions on a range of issues, including sourcing and structuring impact investments and the measurement and evaluation of social impact.

Ian Learmonth, Executive Director of Impact Investing at SVA commented:

‘Following on from a successful summit last year the 2016 event will explore what’s emerged in Australian impact investing over the last 12 months, and what we can learn from the global experience. With increasing interest in how to mobilise capital for social good – from government and investors large and small – it’s a great opportunity to reflect on opportunities and plan next the next stage of impact investing in Australia.’

SVA links socially-oriented organisations and projects with a need for capital to a network of impact investors by developing and managing a range of impact investment instruments. These include debt and equity investments in social enterprisesSocial Impact Bonds (SIBs), and bespoke financial solutions for large scale transactions particularly in the area of social and affordable housing.

SVA is currently working with governments across Australia to explore the development of new SIBs across a range of issue areas, and late last year announced a partnership with HESTA Superannuation to manage one of Australia’s largest impact investment funds.

Early bird registrations for the Summit are open until 12 September.
