Cameron Winnett

‘At SVA, I have the opportunity to learn about the intersections between different social issues. By working with organisations both big and small, I feel connected with our community.’

Cameron is a Consultant with Social Ventures Australia. He supports community organisations and government with strategy and evaluation, and has focused in particular on economic development, employment and education initiatives.

Cameron has worked closely with First Australians communities in the Northern Territory and regional Victoria. This work has included developing a Master Plan for the community of Gunyaŋara, the first Aboriginal community to administer a township lease in the Northern Territory, as well as supporting implementation of a strategy for economic transition on Groote Eylandt. You can read more about these projects in Cameron’s post on First Australians engagement.

Before coming to SVA, Cameron worked as a lawyer across the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. At Allens, he worked in technology law and commercial litigation. He then joined the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation, where he contributed to initiatives in governance, strategy and donor relations.

Cameron is passionate about education and community development. He has run civics projects with schools in the U.K and Taiwan, and has led a charity that connects students from disadvantaged schools with work experience. He has spent time with the North Queensland Land Council, the Australian Government Solicitor, and the corporate responsibility team at UBS in London.

Cameron has a Masters of Public Policy (Distinction) from the University of Oxford, and Bachelor degrees in Laws (Hons) and Arts from the Australian National University. He has completed the Leading for Impact Fellowship at the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship.
