Joel Palte

Joel is a Manager, Consulting with Social Ventures Australia. He brings a diverse skillset, with experience across government, the corporate sector, and not-for-profit space. At SVA Joel has worked on a range of strategy and evaluation projects for clients in the mental health, disability, ageing, and education sectors.

Prior to joining SVA, Joel spent four years at the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet, driving strategic policy reforms and programs. This included working on the introduction of digital driver licences, reforms to consumer protection and tenancy provisions, and managing NSW’s unsolicited proposals process – collaborating with private sector companies and NGOs with innovative ideas. Early in his career he practised as a solicitor.

Joel is a strong believer in the value of diversity and is a Director of the First Hike Project, a NFP that takes young Australian’s from refugee and migrant backgrounds on their first hiking experiences. He is also a Refugee Council of Australia Champions for Change Fellow and has volunteered with the Refugee Advice and Casework Service providing legal advice to people seeking asylum.

Joel holds a Bachelor of Commerce/Law (First Class Honours) from Macquarie University, and a Master of Public Policy from the University of Sydney, where he studied as a Westpac Future Leaders Scholar.
