Miran Fernando

‘I’ve always been motivated by a sense of justice and wanted to pursue a career where I could advocate for others and strive for a fairer society for all. I feel very lucky to be given this opportunity to partner with social sector organisations as they tackle the complex and pertinent social issues across Australia.’

Miran is an Analyst, Consulting at Social Ventures Australia. He brings a background in consulting, having worked on business and digital transformation projects in Accenture’s Government & Health team. Prior to Accenture, Miran completed vacation clerkships at commercial law firms MinterEllison and Russell Kennedy, as well as social justice law firm Maurice Blackburn.

Since joining SVA, Miran has worked on the early stages of a strategy project for Philanthropy Australia, a data analysis project for West Justice and is currently working with the Brotherhood of St Laurence on an outcomes measurement implementation.

Miran pursued his passion for social impact through various volunteering opportunities whilst at university. He volunteered at the Family Law Assistance Program at the Monash-Oakleigh Legal Service where he provided free legal advice to clients under the supervision of a family law solicitor. He also mentored high school students attending schools considered underrepresented at university as part of the Access Monash Ambassador Program, for which he was awarded a Sir John Monash Community Leaders Scholarship.

Miran holds a Bachelor of Arts (History) and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from Monash University.
