Miran Fernando

‘I’ve always been motivated by a sense of justice and wanted to pursue a career where I could advocate for others and strive for a fairer society for all. I feel very lucky to be given this opportunity to partner with social sector organisations as they tackle the complex and pertinent social issues across Australia.’

Miran is an Analyst, Consulting at Social Ventures Australia.  Since joining SVA, Miran has worked on a range of projects across strategy, organisational effectiveness and outcomes management. This includes developing business cases on the expansion of Austin Health’s NDIS services and on the growth of genyus’ platforms which connect survivors of physical trauma and chronic illness. He has also conducted social return on investment analysis for Clean Force, a social enterprise of WISE Employment which provides employment opportunities to disadvantaged Australians.

Miran joined SVA with two years of consulting experience gained from working on business and digital transformation projects in Accenture’s Government & Health team. He also completed vacation clerkships at commercial law firms MinterEllison and Russell Kennedy, as well as social justice law firm Maurice Blackburn. Whilst at university, he volunteered at the Family Law Assistance Program at the Monash-Oakleigh Legal Service where he provided free legal advice to clients under the supervision of a family law solicitor. He also mentored high school students attending schools considered underrepresented at university as part of the Access Monash Ambassador Program.

Miran holds a Bachelor of Arts (History) and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from Monash University.
