Nick Johns

Nick is an Associate Director, Bright Spots Schools Connection. The Connection provides innovative support to leaders to develop projects and actions that respond to the issues of education disadvantage in Australia’s most challenged communities.

Nick has worked in the primary, secondary and post-secondary education sectors, both in Australia and the UK. He has held a wide range of roles including teaching, education case management, flexible learning program leadership, project management, and evaluation/research. Since 2010 he has taught in, managed and consulted to a wide range of education programs for highly vulnerable young people, primarily in the social purpose sector. In each program he has been inspired by the resilience of young people, and excited by the progress they make when given the opportunity with the right support.

Nick holds qualifications in Micro Business Operations, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, a Bachelor of Science, a Graduate Diploma of Education (Primary), and a Master of Adolescent Health & Welfare (by research). His thesis focused on Flexible and Alternative Education: Hearing the Voices of Young People. Nick is the President of the Victorian Applied Learning Association (VALA).
