Philanthropy Australia’s Blueprint to Grow Structured Giving

Front cover of the Blueprint to Grow Structured Giving report

Philanthropy Australia are the peak body for Australia’s philanthropic community with a mission to represent, grow and inspire an effective and robust philanthropic sector.

Australia is a generous nation – we rank fifth in the World Giving Index – but on financial measures of generosity, we are slipping, and there are opportunities to turn that trend around.

Throughout 2020 and 2021, SVA worked with Philanthropy Australia on an ambitious project to grow the culture of structured giving in Australia.

The role we played

In conjunction with Philanthropy Australia, SVA Consulting:

  • Reviewed and synthesised research on the current state of philanthropic giving in Australia and overseas, including understanding the various drivers of philanthropy and options for growing it further
  • Undertook new quantitative analyses, a qualitative survey, and a significant level of engagement with over sixty individuals and organisations to inform the blueprint’s development and build consensus on the actions required to grow philanthropy
  • Developed high potential initiatives to grow giving, including testing and consensus building for those initiatives
  • Drafted and published the report which outlines a roadmap to grow giving through to 2030, including the key enablers required to ensure success.

“I just want to acknowledge the incredible and quality effort SVA have made in working with Philanthropy Australia over the past 12 months to develop our Blueprint to Grow Structured Giving. You have gone over and above in terms of your commitment to delivering a clear and actionable plan as well as ensuring key stakeholders were brought along on the journey. Here’s to our bringing home something special with the Blueprint.”
