Open Letter: Ensuring every child can thrive

SVA, supported by 19 co-signatory child and family organisations, wrote an open letter to Prime Minister Scott Morrison on 3 August, raising concerns about the more than 1 million children in Australia at risk of poverty as financial hardship for families increases through Covid-19.

We drew the link between low income supports, childhood poverty, and lifelong disadvantage, calling for children’s best interests to be at the centre of our policy response.  This was featured in the Guardian on Tuesday 11 August, received radio attention and was promoted widely through social media.
