Social Ventures Australia welcomes new Chief Executive Officer Rob Koczkar this week as founding CEO Michael Traill stands aside after 12 years in the role. Michael will take on a role as Executive Director focused on building external partnerships that deliver catalytic and sustainable social change.

In his time as CEO Michael Traill has been at the forefront of significant innovations in the social purpose sector in Australia, including the development of venture philanthropy, social enterprise and impact investing.

SVA Chair Paul Robertson commented:

“Michael’s dedication to finding effective and efficient ways to create a fairer and more prosperous Australia has not only helped drive the success of a wide range of outstanding ventures and initiatives, but also helped inspire a more innovative, collaborative and enterprising mindset among social change makers across our society.”

Mr Traill commented:

“I am delighted to hand over the role of CEO to Rob, who has been a valued and trusted colleague for many years. I have every confidence he will be an excellent steward of SVA’s next stage of growth.”

Rob Koczkar brings extensive experience in investing and management consulting to SVA, along with a deep understanding of the social purpose sector from serving on the SVA board and Mission Australia’s Corporate Advisory Council.

Mr Koczkar commented:

“I am excited to start working full-time on developing and scaling sustainable solutions to entrenched disadvantage in Australia. SVA has built an incredibly strong team, network and reputation under Michael’s leadership and I look forward to continuing to work with him to build on that foundation going forward.”
